At the University of Laval, confronted by the host Quebec
Patriotes GAA and inclement weather, Montreal Shamrocks GAA
Football team won the Quebec cup for the second year running.
Shamrocks produced a dominant display from beginning to end,
scoring early and often, tightening the midfield and defense. They
attacked with and without the ball non-stop, pressuring in all
parts of the field. Despite the hosts’ best efforts Montreal
wouldn’t be denied, and the Cup is back on the island for the
third time in four years. A decent crowd was subjected, along with
both teams, to weather that wavered between soggy and miserable,
but the spirit of the game was excellent, hard-fought and nothing
given either way, right up to the last whistle. Special thanks to
our hosts on the day for making a fine event out of it, and
congratulations to the club, the supporters, and the players, who
have not only brought home silverware, but laid a strong
foundation for the GAA’s continued development in the province of
Quebec.
